Sydney is huge city, and a dream travel destination for many people. I always dreamed of visiting Australia, and when I finally got to Sydney, I loved it! I was able to spend a few days there, and visit a few different areas of the city, so I’ve chosen what I think the top sights are, so you can try to plan your day. It would be impossible to see the whole city in a day, but if a day is all you have, I think this itinerary would be perfect! So read on to discover the perfect itinerary for one day in Sydney Australia.

First Stop: Café Breakfast

The first stop on the itinerary is breakfast at a café. Sydney has a very strong café culture, so this is an important part of the experience. Australia is known for delicious coffee, so enjoy your coffee, breakfast, and maybe an outdoor patio, depending on what time of year you are visiting!

Second Stop: Opera House

The Sydney Opera House is by far the most iconic thing to see in Sydney. I think you should head right there from breakfast, before the area gets too busy. You will want some time there to walk around the building and take pictures. This is also a great place to get a good look at the iconic harbour bridge- it is is directly across from the Opera House so you can get great photos of the bridge on this stop as well.

If you are interested in seeing the inside of the Opera House, you can also take a guided tour.

The Sydney Harbour Bridge

Third Stop: Royal Botanic Garden Sydney

Right next to the Opera House is an incredible botanical garden. This is a great place to take a walk and see some amazing plant life.

Fourth Stop: The Rocks Neighbourhood

The Rocks is a historic neighbourhood right near the harbour bridge. It is a short walk from the botanical garden and opera house. You could spend a while exploring this area- there are outdoor markets, nice restaurants, and museums. I particularly enjoyed The Rocks Discovery Museum. It has a ton of information about the area, going back hundreds of years. And it’s free!

Fifth Stop: Lunch

By now, you will probably be ready for lunch. There are plenty of nice restaurants and cafes in the Rocks neighbourhood, but if you are looking for a classic and affordable Sydney experience, I would recommend heading back towards the harbour and getting fish and chips!

Sixth Stop: Bondi Beach

After lunch, it’s time to head to Bondi Beach! This iconic beach is an easy bus ride away from the harbour. Depending on the time of year, you could enjoy some beach time, or just enjoy the walking trails and views surrounding the beach. Either way, I think you could spend a couple hours here.

Final Stop: Dinner at Darling Harbour

After Bondi Beach, get back on the bus and head to Darling Harbour. This is another famous waterfront area in Sydney, and is worth walking around and soaking up the views. There are also many restaurants in this area, so it is a good spot to get dinner. After a long day of exploring, you will want to find somewhere with a nice view of the harbour and relax!

So there you go, the perfect itinerary for one day in Sydney Australia! Happy travelling!
