2 Days in Toronto: The Perfect Weekend Itinerary

Toronto is a fun and lively city that makes for an amazing weekend trip. From markets, to museums, to cocktail bars, you won’t run out of things to do in Toronto. I have visited a Toronto a few times now, so I’ve put together this itinerary of what I think would be a perfect 2 days in Toronto.

Toronto

2 Days in Toronto: Day 1

Your first day in Toronto will be a busy one exploring the heart of the city.

Stop 1: The CN Tower

Your first stop in Toronto is the CN Tower. No trip to Toronto would be complete without a stop at this iconic tower, which was the tallest building in the world until 2009. Take the elevator to the top for an incredible view of the surrounding area. You may want to consider buying tickets in advance, as it can get busy.

Stop 2: Explore the Harbourfront

After the CN Tower, it is time to explore the Harbourfront, a nearby area. The Harbourfront has nice trails and parks on the shore of Lake Ontario.

Stop 3: St. Lawrence Market

The next stop is St. Lawrence Market. This famous market is packed with unique foods and fresh meat and produce. This is a great place to get a snack! It is about a 20 minute walk from the Harbourfront.

Stop 4: Yonge Dundas Square

The next stop is Yonge Dundas Square, the ‘Times Square of Toronto.’ This lively area is filled with bright lights, and is a great place to eat, drink or shop.

Stop 5: Blue Jay’s Game

If you happen to be in Toronto at the right time of year, and the Blue Jays, the city’s baseball team, are playing while you are there, I would highly recommend watching a game! This is the perfect way to enjoy a summer evening in Toronto, and soak up a lively atmosphere. If your trip doesn’t line up with their schedule, you can definitely enjoy an evening at one of Toronto’s many restaurants- the food scene there is amazing, and you will be spoiled for choice.

2 Days in Toronto: Day 2

Your second day in Toronto will depend on which season you are visiting in, and how adventurous you are feeling.

Stop 1: Canada’s Wonderland, Toronto Island, or Museums

If you happen to visit Toronto in the summer, you can’t miss Canada’s Wonderland, an incredible theme park. While it does get pretty busy there, and the lines can be tedious, the park does offer some amazing roller coasters. In my opinion, this is a great place to go if you are a thrill seeker!

If you are visiting Toronto in the summer, but you’re looking to have a more laid back day, another great option is to visit Toronto Island. You can catch the ferry from the Harbourfront area, and spend the day exploring or hanging out on the beach.

Finally, if you are not visiting Toronto in the summer, and you are looking for an indoor activity, I would recommend visiting a museum or two. The city offers some amazing options, with popular ones including the Royal Ontario Museum, the Art Gallery of Ontario, and the Hockey Hall of Fame.

Stop 2: Restaurant or Rooftop Bar

If you are in Toronto in the summer, I would highly recommend checking out a rooftop bar. Not only do they have a fun atmosphere, but you can get some incredible views of the city. I visited Kost, and loved it- it had an amazing view of the CN tower! If the weather does not allow for an outdoor bar, there are so many amazing restaurants and bars where you can relax and enjoy an evening. My favourite restaurant was Pai, a Michellin guide Thai restaurant.
