This blog post contains what I think is the best itinerary for two days in Singapore.
Singapore is a gem of a city. Its futuristic buildings and infrastructure are surrounded by greenery. I recently spent two days exploring Singapore, and was impressed by the balance of concrete jungle and garden. There are also lots of historical sights to take in!
I was initially worried that two days in Singapore wouldn’t be enough time to see everything, but it turned out to be the perfect amount of time for a quick overview of this city-state. I’ve put together this itinerary of what I think is the best way to spend two days in Singapore.
Two Days in Singapore: Day 1
Your first day in Singapore will consist of four stops:
Stop 1: Gardens by the Bay
Gardens by the Bay is probably the most popular attraction in Singapore. It actually contains a few different exhibits- in my opinion, the essential ones you need to visit are Cloud Forest and Flower Dome. These indoor, walk-through attractions are an incredible display of greenery and flowers. Plan to spend about an hour at each.
Stop 2: Marina Bay Sands
Marina Bay Sands is in walking distance of Gardens By the Bay. This very famous hotel complex is worth a visit even if you aren’t staying there. You will enjoy just popping in to looking around. It also has a ton of luxury shops if you want to browse, and a museum of art and science. Plan to be here for an hour if you are just looking around, and two hours if you are visiting the museum.
Stop 3: Stop By a Mall
Your next stop will be a mall. My favourite was Raffles City, which is about a 20 minute walk from Marina Bay Sands. Singapore is known for its luxury shopping. Even if you are not planning to buy anything, it is definitely worth a visit, just to explore. Another great thing to do when visiting a mall is stop by the food court! The mall food courts in Singapore were amazing, and unlike anything I have seen in North America. All of the vendors were serving high quality meals from varying cuisines. There were so many different types of food from all over Asia to try!
Stop 4: Night Safari
If you’re still feeling energetic at the end of the day, a great evening activity is a night safari at Mandai Wildlife Reserve. This tour is a unique opportunity to see nocturnal animals while they’re active!
Two Days in Singapore: Day 2
Your second day in Singapore will consist of four stops:
Stop 1: Chinatown
Start your day in Chinatown. Chinatown is a must-see in Singapore. It is known for its amazing street art, temples, shops and food. I would recommend planning to spend at least two hours in Chinatown! You won’t run out of things to do.
Stop 2: Merlion
The Merlion statue is about a 20 minute walk from Chinatown. It is an icon on Singapore. You definitely need to stop by and take a photo with it! You won’t need long here- 30 minutes at the most.
Stop 3: Singapore Changi Airport
From the Merlion, you will head to the airport. It takes about an hour to transit there from the Merlion, or a 20 minute taxi ride. If you didn’t get a chance to explore Singapore airport on your way in, you need to make time to check it out. It is an attraction in itself! There are multiple gardens, mazes, monuments, and SO many shops at Singapore Changi airport. There are also many delicious options for food. You will want to spend at least two hours here.
Stop 4: Light Show at Gardens By the Bay
After you’ve explored the airport, head back in to the city. This evening, you’ll be going back to Gardens By the Bay for Garden Rhapsody, a nighttime light show. The outdoor show is a stunning display of lights and music amongst the “Supertrees.”
If you follow this itinerary, I think you will have the best two days in Singapore. Singapore is such a beautiful and culturally rich city- there is no shortage of unforgettable things to do!
